Executive Master Rock Mechanics Engineering and Applied Geology
Training Objectives
The Hassania School of Public Works, as a Grande École of Engineers specializing in the field of Public Works, organizes an Executive Master’s program in Rock Mechanics and Applied Geology (IMRGA). The main objective is the training and capacity building of national executives in the fields of rock mechanics and underground structures.
At the end of this Master’s program, participants should be able to:
- State and describe the parameters for characterizing and classifying rock masses.
- Describe and discuss the mechanical properties of the rock matrix and discontinuities.
- Investigate and explain issues related to water in projects involving rock masses.
- Verify the stability of rock foundations and slopes and dimension possible reinforcement elements.
- Explain the methods of excavation and support for underground structures.
- Apply empirical methods for the design of supports.
- Investigate geophysical methods applied to rock masses.
- State and describe models of discontinuities in rock masses.
- Know laboratory and in-situ tests.
- Choose and understand the operation of equipment used in this field.
Target Audience and Admission Conditions
The Executive Master’s program in Rock Mechanics and Applied Geology at EHTP is designed for candidates from public, semi-public, and private sectors, holding the following scientific degrees:
- Bachelor’s degree + 5 years or more (Ph.D., engineer, master’s, etc.);
- Candidates holding an equivalent Bachelor’s degree + 4 years, with substantial professional experience, may be admitted by exception after a review of their application.
Admissions are granted following the examination of the candidate’s application and an interview with the selection committee.
The modules of the training are as follows
The Executive Master’s program in Rock Mechanics and Applied Geology at EHTP is structured around four themes:
Theme 1: Engineering Geology and Soil Mechanics
Theme 2: Hydromechanical Behavior of Rock Masses and Discontinuities
