The discipline of Geographic Information Sciences, also known as “Geomatics,” encompasses all methods and techniques for the processing and management of spatial information.

It is a cross-cutting discipline that intersects with all areas with a spatial dimension, including territorial planning, urbanism, environment, agriculture, natural resource management, transportation, service networks, logistics, marketing, banking, insurance, and more.

Since its establishment in 1998, the GIS program at EHTP has trained highly qualified state engineers who work in various socio-economic sectors at both the national and international levels.

The main purpose of the GIS program is to train competent GIS engineers (Geomaticians) capable of managing and providing solutions to all issues related to spatial management by combining computer and spatial technologies. The training program consists of three main components:

  • Common Block at EHTP: Languages, Management, Mathematics

  • Computing Block: Programming, Web Development, Databases…

  • Spatial Block:

Acquisition Techniques: Topography, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing;

Analysis and Presentation Techniques: Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography;

Graduates of the GIS program work in various public, semi-public, and private socio-economic sectors. 20% of the program’s graduates work internationally. The main career opportunities include:

  • Ministries: Ministry of Equipment and Transport, Department of Water, Territorial Planning,
  • Agencies and Offices: Urban Agencies, Hydraulic Basin Agencies, Water and Electricity Boards, OFPPT, OCP, ONEE, ORMVA…
  • Private Sector: IT companies (SSII), GIS companies, Engineering firms, Consulting firms, Banks, Insurance companies…
  • Higher Education & Research Laboratories: Morocco, France, Canada…
  • International Organizations: UN, France, England, Canada, USA, Japan, UAE, KSA…
